Notes about the Jubilee Celebrations

As you can see, this is a major celebration for the town involving many of the venues and groups and we would like to see as many people involved as possible.  Would you please read the notes below and see where you can contribute.  Also, please put the dates in your diary and tell others what we are planning.

Gardens
Do you have a garden which you would be proud to show to others.  Why not be an Open Garden for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations when many larger gardens will be open to the public.

Parade
We wish to show Cullompton that we are moving on from the past two years of pandemic and lockdowns and having a full celebration within our community.  A parade is a must and will be headed by those opening the celebrations on the CCA fields.  The Parade will be in the CCA fields, starting at the Tesco entrance and proceeding to where the Jubilee tree is planted.  After the unveiling of the plaque, the parade will move to the play area where the activities will be held.
Is there a music group who can take part.  How about some of our businesses getting involved and promoting themselves.  Decorated vehicles would also be welcome.

On the CCA fields
We have a limited number of gazebos available for those businesses who wish to promote themselves, groups who want to show what they do and attract new members.  And if we run out of Gazebos you can always bring your own and we will find room for you.

Entertainment
Your opportunity to show off and entertain others.  Singing, Dancing, Keep fit displays musical items from those who are talented in these areas.  And if we have some music groups who are happy to play background music, that would be awesome.  We plan to have a dog show.  Do you have a dog?  Yours could be the top dog in many categories— Cutest puppy under 12 months, Young handler up to 14 years, Prettiest bitch, Handsome lad, Best rescue, Best veteran (over 7 years), Waggiest tail, Most appealing eyes, Best trick, Dog judge would most like to take home

Groups or businesses
We will be having some interesting adult games.  We need teams of up to 9 to sign up and compete to be the Cullompton champions.  Who will be the overall winners?  We are not telling you what the games are yet but we can guarantee that you will enjoy it and look back on this event in the years to come. Tug 0’ war, Adult sack race, Human table top football and others too awful to mention.

All
We will be having a short service provided by St Andrew’s and the Baptist church to celebrate the 70 years of the Queen’s reign and also to celebrate the outstanding community spirit which make Cullompton the town it is, whether it be supporting our neighbours or those who are less fortunate or the support for the Ukraine which is taking many practical forms.

Street parties
If you are planning a street party, please consider if you need a road closure.  Applications are required and this needs to be done earlier rather than later to avoid any deadlines. Why not a street meet which doesn’t need a road closure order

Businesses or groups
We are not charging any entrance fees for the CCA field event but we are incurring some costs which we are hoping will be covered by donations or the use of equipment.  We have printed and distributed a 20 page Jubilee Scrapbook looking back over the 70 years of the Queen’s reign and what happened in Cullompton. The printing cost for this is about £1,200 for the souvenir quality we need.  If you feel that you can make a donation towards this or for the incidental expenses of setting up the celebration days which will be a further £1,000 to include prizes for the games etc the Town Team would welcome this.

Please contact Sue Robinson (suedr1@hotmail.com)
or Ray Ursell (ray.ursell@informationflow.co.uk) for details

All donors will be recognised on the Town Team web site for one year
